Bulk Billed Eye Tests

Why Eye Exams are Important

Regular eye examinations are extremely important to your overall health and your vision. Everyone wants clear, healthy, and comfortable vision for their entire life. Many eye diseases show no immediate symptoms until the damage is done. Regular check-ups can help detect at early stages - glaucoma, retinal disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cataracts.

Bulk billing and health fund members

Torga Optical has a bulk billing relationship with Medicare in addition to leading private funds including Medibank, Bupa, AHM, NIB, and Defense Health.

Torga Optical’s range of complete packages mean that health fund members can get visual solutions with no gap payments due. Many health fund members will be eligible for two pairs of single vision glasses from our on trend range including anti-glare coatings, or one pair of latest generation multi-focal (progressive).

Terms and conditions as well as rebate approval from Medicare and the respective health funds apply.

Working closely with Medical Specialists

In every region, Torga Optical works closely with selected eye specialists. So, if after having your eyes examined by a Torga optometrist you need to be referred, you will be done so to doctors with whom we work closely.

What you can expect when a Torga Optometrist examines your eyes

The Torga Optometrist will perform several tests on your vision and will screen your eyes for retinal and corneal disorders. The results of your test will be explained to you to give you a better understanding of your eye health and of any prescriptions that are recommended to help make your vision clearer and comfortable to suit your lifestyle and image.

An Examination by a Torga Optometrist includes:

  • Internal and external eye health examination:
A Torga Optometrist will conduct an internal and external examination of your eyes which is necessary to detect signs of possible disorders, such as cataracts or retinal problems.

  • Visual acuity tests:
This tests your ability to see sharply and clearly at all distances.
  • Refraction:

  • Tonometry:
This is a computer measurement of your internal eye pressure to test for glaucoma.
  • Visual coordination:
This is a test for your eye coordination and muscle control.
  • Focusing ability: This is a test to measure your eye's ability to change focus.
  • Brief education: There is nothing as important as understanding your results and treatment plan suggested by any health pratictioner. Your Torga Optometrist will explain your results regarding your eye health and visual needs
